Well, hello there!

Well, I'm back from my blogging hiatus and have PLENTY to share! Over the past month, life at the O'Donnell household has been nothing but a blur! So, hold on to your seats as I prepare to catch you up on our lives!

Visit to Houston

At the beginning of August I headed down to Houston for the weekend to spend some time with my old roomie, Emily! We spent Saturday morning at the beach in Galveston, then headed home around lunch time to do what we love to do best... SHOP! We hit up Rice Village and few other hot spots in town and then made our way to the house to get ready for a night out on the town. We met up with some of Matt and Emily's friends from church to celebrate their friend Trent's birthday. We at dinner at Piatto's and then went to the St. Regis for after dinner drinks and some live "entertainment." You should have seen some of the people on the dance floor who thought their moves were worth showing off! Sunday we spent the morning watching the amazing Michael Phelps and the Olympic coverage. On our way to the airport we grabbed a bit to eat at one of my favorite places, Chuy's. It was a quick but much needed weekend! Here's a pic from dinner.

Trip to Newport Beach
About a week and a half after I got back from Houston, Kelly and Thad headed to the West Coast for some California sun! They spent 5 days basking on the beaches of Newport and Laguna in Southern California. They tried to body surf, body board, and spent the rest of their days being lazy and relaxing. Kelly said they had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back. He came back about 6 shades darker and looked like a true California beach bum! Here are a few pics from their trip.

Change is Good?!...

During the month of August, I found out I got a new job at work!! It was a very hard decision for me to apply for a new position within Southwest Airlines, as I'd grown to love my co-workers and everything my job entailed! However this new position is a great opportunity for growth and exposure to the company, and I couldn't let it pass me by. And on August 11th, I found out I was the new Executive Assistant to the Sr. VP of Culture & Communications! It has been a huge transition to leave my home in MX and make a new home in Culture & Communications, but I'm enjoying the ride so far! Stay tuned for more updates...

San Antonio or Bust!

During my last week in the Maintenance Department I had the opportunity to go to San Antonio for the Annual Director/Manager Meeting and Awards Banquet. On Tuesday, the other Admins and I headed down to get everything set up for the week. That night everyone had dinner at Pat O'Briens on the Riverwalk. Jim, our VP, welcomed everyone on the trip and then made the announcement that I was leaving MX as of Monday. I think I was in tears the entire trip! On Wednesday we all volunteered for the Salvation Army at several locations across the city. Some groups were responsible for cleaning out warehouses, while others organized food banks, rebuilt playgrounds or re-landscaped a building. After a hard days work, we cleaned up and headed to a very relaxed dinner at a local Mexican food restaurant. Before the night was over our entire dinner party erupted in a massive tortilla throwing fight! It was like nothing I'd ever seen before. (I really will miss working with this bunch!) On Thursday the Directors and Managers had an all day meeting to attend and the other girls and I were responsible for setting up for the Awards Banquet. As the award winners and other "big wigs" from Southwest rolled into town, we headed upstairs to get ready for the evening! The banquet started around 6:00 pm with cocktail hour and then dinner was served at 7:00 pm. The awards ceremony began shortly after that. It was so weird to be ending my time in Maintenance at this meeting, because just a year ago I was learning everyone's name and getting to experience my first Southwest event. Time flies when you're having fun! Here are a few pics from the trip.

We Love Snoopy!

Well, the much anticipated transition has finally arrived! On September 1st, First Horizon Home Loans officially became MetLife Home Loans. Kelly and his team were responsible for making sure the rollout of MetLife Home Loans was a smooth one. He spent all day Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend at the office re-branding their website and all of this training material. So next time you see Snoopy you can think of Kelly!

Visit to Waco

This weekend Kelly and I headed down to Waco on Friday night to spend the weekend with Michael, Virginia and Major. We got to town late Friday night and headed to Lake Waco to eat at the "Slippery Minnow" for dinner. It was a beautiful evening, so we sat outside on the second deck and enjoyed catching up all night long. Saturday the only thing on the agenda for the boys was watching the Aggie football game! Virginia and I got up, planned the days meals and then headed into town to do a little shopping and to grab some last minute groceries. We made a stop at Spice, a cute home decor store in downtown Waco, and then browsed the other shops around the square. We then hit up Lane's, another really cute store, where we found some really good deals! After lolly gagging all day, we made a quick dash into HEB and headed home to get started on the pre game snacks and dinner. We watched the game, cooked in the kitchen, grilled the most delicious SMORES you've ever had and ate until the cows came home!! This morning we woke up and made breakfast, lounged around and then Kelly and I had to get on the road to head home. We had a wonderful weekend spending time with dear friends... and the Ferguson's sure do know how to be great hosts!

Well, that's all I have to report for now! Thanks for reading the Readers Digest version of our life this past month. Hopefully I'll be better about updating our blog!! Have a great week everyone!

So glad you had fun in Waco! I LOVE Spice, and we registered for wedding presents at Lane's! Next time, you have to eat at George's--your hubbies will love you for it. :)
