On the road again...

This past weekend was my third weekend in a row to be out of town...but I didn't mind one bit because...

This past weekend was an OVERDUE roomie reunion!

I always love when I get together with these two ladies! We have the most fabulous time together :)



Saturday morning Jen and I flew down to see Em for the day! Em picked us up in her new car and we headed out for a day full of fun.

But of course, we didn't arrive empty handed! We had a gift bag filled to the brim.



We thought she could use a few of her favorite things: York Peppermint Patties, bubble bath, fingernail polish, earrings, a cute pair of unmentionables, Starbucks coffee, a new fall note pad, and some Skittles.

Here are Jen and Em being silly as we head back to watch "Sex and the City" and enjoy a relaxing afternoon together.

Even though our trip was short and sweet, we loved getting to hang out and catch up! Can't wait til we can do it again!

Wedding Weekend!

Well, I've been really bad lately about doing my "Weekend Wrap Ups" so, bear with me as I try to play catch up.

A few weekends ago Kelly and I headed down to Houston to celebrate our friends, Jill and Matt, as they became husband and wife!! I was in the House Party and loved getting to be a part of all of the wedding festivities! We arrived Friday morning just in time for the beautiful Bridesmaids Luncheon at Champions Golf Course in Cypress. The decorations were beautiful, and the food was absolutely amazing. After the luncheon I met up with my dear friend and old college roomie, Emily, and we chatted the afternoon away over a cup of coffee. It was so great to see her in her neck of the woods. Oddly enough, Emily teaches at the middle school where Jill went to school! Small world, huh?

After my chat with Em, we headed to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Here's a pic of Jill and me at the end of dinner. Ready for a BIG day tomorrow :)



On Saturday all the bridemaids and house party met at the Chateau (the location of the reception) and got ready together before heading to the church. This is also when Matt and Jill saw each other for the first time. They took their pictures before the ceremony, and we all watched as Matt waited for Jill at the end of the drive way. He was SO excited to see his beautiful bride.

I forgot my camera at the Chateau for the wedding ceremony, but it was wonderful just the same! One of Matt's groomsmen, Jesse, played the guitar and sang the most beautiful songs, and Matt's dad, Mark, officiated the ceremony--it was so special!

After the ceremony we all headed to the Chateau for a wonderful dinner and a night filled with dancing. And, since there are too many pictures to post them all here, I made a slide show. Enjoy!

I'm so happy for you, Jill and Matt! Congratulations and may you live happily ever after!

I ♥ Aggieland

I mentioned in my last post that we recently made the trek down to A&M for the season opener! We had such a wonderful time visiting our old stomping grounds and soaking in the Aggie Spirit. It was a great game, ending in a 41-6 victory over the University of New Mexico. Gig 'em Aggies!

College Football

Well, I'm proud to announce that I'm making a comeback! I've been MIA from my blog for quite some time, and I hope to get back in the swing of things! I've been a little uninspired, or maybe it's that I'm bored, or don't have much to talk about...but then again, who are we kidding--I've always got something crazy happening in my life. Like the other night when I ran into a wall and cracked my glasses that I've had since I was a sophomore in high school...but we'll save that story for a rainy day.

Today I'm here to post a GREAT e-mail I received from my cousin on College Football and just couldn't pass up the opportunity to share it with you! Football is in full swing and I couldn't be more excited. Last weekend we made the trek down to A&M for the season opener and it was a blast re-living the hype before an Aggie game--especially at Kyle Field.

College Football: North vs. South

Planning for the fall football season in the South is radically different than up North. For those who are planning a football trip South, here are some helpful hints.

Women's Accessories:
NORTH: Chap Stick in back pocket and a $20 bill in the front pocket.

SOUTH: Louis Vuitton duffel with two lipsticks, waterproof mascara, and a fifth of bourbon. Money not necessary - that's what dates are for.

Stadium Size:
NORTH: College football stadiums hold 20,000 people.

SOUTH: High school football stadiums hold 20,000 people.

Fathers:
NORTH: Expect their daughters to understand Sylvia Plath.

SOUTH: Expect their daughters to understand pass interference.

Campus Decor:
NORTH: Statues of founding fathers.

SOUTH: Statues of Heisman trophy winners.

Homecoming Queen:
NORTH: Also a physics major.

SOUTH: Also Miss America.

Heroes:
NORTH: Rudy Giuliani

SOUTH: Archie, Peyton & Eli Manning

Getting Tickets:
NORTH: 5 days before the game you walk into the ticket office on campus.

SOUTH: 5 months before the game you walk into the ticket office on campus, make a large financial contribution and put name on a waiting list for tickets.

Friday Classes After a Thursday Night Game:
NORTH: Students and teachers not sure they're going to the game, because they have classes on Friday.

SOUTH: Teachers cancel Friday classes because they don't want to see the few hung over students that might actually make it to class.

Parking:
NORTH: An hour before game time, the University opens the campus for game parking.

SOUTH: RVs sporting their school flags begin arriving on Wednesday for the weekend festivities. The really faithful arrive on Tuesday.

Game Day:
NORTH: A few students party in the dorm and watch ESPN on TV.

SOUTH: Every student wakes up, has a beer for breakfast, and rushes over to where ESPN is broadcasting "Game Day Live" to get on camera and wave to the idiots up north who wonder why "Game Day Live" is never Broadcast from their campus.

Tailgating:
NORTH: Raw meat on a grill, beer with lime in it, listening to local radio station with truck tailgate down.

SOUTH: 30-foot custom pig-shaped smoker fires up at dawn. Cooking accompanied by live performance from the Dave Matthews Ban,... who come over during breaks and ask for a hit off bottle of bourbon.

Getting to the Stadium:
NORTH: You ask "Where's the stadium?" When you find it, you walk right in.

SOUTH: When you're near it, you'll hear it. On game day it is the state's third largest city.

Concessions:
NORTH: Drinks served in a paper cup, filled to the top with soda.

SOUTH: Drinks served in a plastic cup, with the home team's mascot on it, filled less than half way with soda, to ensure enough room for bourbon.

When National Anthem is Played:
NORTH : Stands are less than half full, and less than half of them stand up.

SOUTH: 100,000 fans, all standing, sing along in perfect four-part harmony.

The Smell in the Air After the First Score:
NORTH: Nothing changes.

SOUTH: Fireworks, with a touch of bourbon. (And if you're in Aggieland--you get a kiss!)

Commentary (Male):
NORTH: "Nice play."

SOUTH: "Dangit, you slow idiot - tackle him and break his legs."

Commentary (Female):
NORTH: "My, this certainly is a violent sport."

SOUTH: "Dangit, you slow idiot - tackle him and break his legs."

Announcers:
NORTH: Neutral and paid.

SOUTH: Announcer harmonizes with the crowd in the fight song, with a tear in his eye because he is so proud of his team.

After the Game:
NORTH: The stadium is empty way before the game ends.

SOUTH: Another rack of ribs goes on the smoker, while somebody goes to the nearest package store for more bourbon, and planning begins for next week's game.
