Blockbusters!

This summer has been filled with exciting {and much anticipated} blockbusters!

* Last weekend Kelly and I went to see A Dark Knight and I absolutely loved it. I have to admit, I’ve never really been a huge Batman/Superman/Spiderman fan, but this year’s Batman movie really peaked my interest. {Ok yes, it had a little to do with the fact that it was starring one of my favorite actors, the late Heath Ledger – but I should get a little credit, right?!}

* Then, last night my Mom and I went to see the Broadway Musical, Jersey Boys! I love the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to see my favorite oldies performed in person. I have tons of memories tied to these songs and hearing them performed live was so fun! Mom and I go to the Dallas Summer Musicals each year and this year I got her the Jersey Boys tickets for Mother’s Day. I love this family tradition! Here are a few of my favorite memories linked to a few of my favorite songs…

Sherry – I mean who doesn’t just start singing along when this hit comes on the radio?

Big Girls Don’t Cry – This song reminds me of the No More Tangles commercial that use to come on when I was a little girl. And yes, I still use No More Tangles to this day.

Walk Like a Man – This song reminds me of Mrs. Doubtfire, one of my all time favorite movies! It’s playing while Robin Williams is dressed in drag walking across the street in San Francisco and someone tries to mug him. While dressed like a woman, he beats the robber up with his “hand bag.”

Oh What a Night – The tune of this song is so catchy that I would blare it on my computer and dance around our crackerjack box of a room when I lived in the Theta House. I still have it on my “workout playlist.”

Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You – Yet another reminder of Heath Ledger… This song is in another one of my favorite movies, 10 Things I Hate About You, when Heath starts singing over the PA system at the soccer field to Julia Stiles to try to get her attention.

* Another blockbuster I’m DYING to see is Mamma Mia! Hopefully I’ll get to see it this weekend!

* And last but not least, possibly the most exciting news of all, Wicked is going to be made into a MOVIE! I don’t have any details on the release dates or timeline, but believe you me – as soon as I know, you’ll know. Oh, I can’t even wait!
