Halloween at Southwest Airlines

If you haven't heard by now, Southwest Airlines is know for it's unique Culture and wonderful work environment! We are the airlines that strives to "Own the Holidays," and Halloween is one of our most favorite holidays to celebrate. Each year, our Employees spend weeks leading up to the day preparing skits, decorating offices for walk-thrus, fine tuning their costumes; all the while anxiously awaiting to see what our CEO, Gary Kelly, is going to be for Halloween! No work gets done on Halloween, as we are all fully engaged in our department's skit, walk-thru, or are roaming the halls to see the decorations of the other departments. We bring in special guests to be the judges for all the shows and walk-thrus.

This year was no different. Our department, the Executive Office, put on a skit, "The Southwest Airlines' Star-Studded Cher the Spirit Spectacular." We had 6 show times throughout the day, featuring some of Cher's most famous songs, as well as some of her favorite famous friends, such as Dolly Parton, The Beatles, and Tina Turner. We all had a WONDERFUL time performing for the hundreds of co-workers, friends, and family members who came to watch our show. We placed 3rd over-all!

Halloween is such a huge event at Southwest that we even had media covering the event. Dallas Morning News posted this link on their website yesterday. Click here to watch a glimpse of this year's Halloween celebration!

I hope everyone had a safe and spooky Halloween!

(I'll have pictures to post soon.)
